I AM A BLACK MUSLIM GIRL IN AMERICA

The “ land of the free” as some may call it. My color is a threat to others and so is my religion. Is like am made up of lethal destruction. It hurts honestly. Am supposed to flex in complexion and be proud of my faith. But how can I be when others say “ ohh you look better without your hijab”. Or “oh your hair is really pretty, are you mixed? . How do I respond to these things . I simply laugh it off because I am in awe that people really question these things. Being black Muslim girl in America is the two most deadly combinations. Everywhere I go, people look at me differently because of my faith and colour. Being black Muslim girl in America always remain a constant threat to others. Being a black Muslim girl means I am being constantly judged without flipping threw my story chapters . I love being a black Muslim girl. It is amazing how I am both a blessing and a curse.  I will continue to wear my colour and faith proudly and own it.
